Oct 31, 2011 · After I reboot, I get the problem icon over my network icon. I open the Network and Sharing Center (by the way, on mouseover of the network icon it sees my internet connection with no internet access, but there is now a second public network listed as unidentified). in the network and sharing centre my laptop connects to the unidentified network. But that is my router and it wont connect to the internet. When i connected the router to the laptop with the lead it again connected to the unidentified network but not to the internet and my ip adress is: wireless Lan adapter Wireless network connection: Computer problem? First, unplug the cable and then reattach it. Then, if you need to, temporarily replace your network cable with a new or different one to see if the problem has to do with the cable. Unidentified Network to Private or Public. In this method, we will set the unidentified network’s location to Private or Public. Doing this could fix the issue for you. Step 1. Go to Cortana on the taskbar and type secpol.msc. Press Enter. This will open Local Security Policy. Step 2. From the left side of the window, select Network List This fixed my Unidentified Connection problem right away. Follow these steps (Windows 7): 1. Click on Start. 2. Click on the search bar at the bottom. 3. Type: msconfig. 4. Press Enter. 5. You should have a new window named System Configuration. 6. Click on the Services tab. 7. Scroll down the list until you find: Network Access Protection Agent. I am at the same time connected to the router with my work laptop (xp) with a good internet connection. So there is no problem with the router (apple airport extreme 54mbps). The network is now "Unidentified" and marked as a public network. I am sure the same thing was a Home network before install of w7. Restart the laptop, and when it settles down, see if you can see the new ssid, and then try logging onto it, it should ask you to enter the new password. See if that helps. I find after making router changes, it is sometimes best to restart to reestablish a new connection.

You need to change the IP address of the switch to be on the same network as the virgin router . i.e if the virgin router is 192.168.0.1 with a mask of 255.255.255.0 the managed switch needs to be 192.168.0.100 (for example) - The virgin router should already be giving out IP addresses via DHCP so you can disable the DHCP on the managed switch
The router works fine with wifi but when I connect a laptop or PC, I get "Unidentified Network - No Internet". I tried all four port and two different computers and same issue. Interestingly, Xbox One X connected via cable to the same router works fine. It seems your system isn't getting an IP via DHCP from your network, and without that info it can't identify the network, which is why Windows is saying "Unidentified network". Try rebooting your router and/or replacing the Ethernet cable.
